Use type as a tool to transform personal and professional lives

Isabel Myers' unique implementation of Carl Jung's theory of psychological type, the MBTI instrument, determines preferences on four dichotomies:

  • Extraversion-Introversion
  • Sensing-Intuition
  • Thinking-Feeling
  • Judging-Perceiving

The various combinations of these preferences result in 16 unique personality types. MBTI Image

The results from the MBTI assessment tool reveal characteristics unique to each type and show how they influence people's way of communicating and interacting with others. The inventory is a key to both understanding the differences among types and improving communication in business and personal relationships.

The MBTI instrument's wide-ranging applications promote growth and development in many organizational settings, including:

Business—fosters team building, leadership and organization development, communication skills, problem solving, conflict management, stress management, career management, and outplacement

Counseling
—guides career change and exploration, couples counseling, conflict resolution, and personal growth

Education
—identifies learning styles, builds administrator/student/teacher relationships, and aids in analyzing and improving curriculum

The MBTI tool is scored using item response theory (IRT), one of the most powerful item-rating methods in modern test theory, ensuring the most accurate prediction of a person's true personality type.

MBTI Step II Form Q Overview

Step II Form Q explores the next level of type by identifying and investigating 20 facets: 5 facets related to Extraversion-Introversion, 5 related to Sensing-Intuition, 5 related to Thinking-Feeling, and 5 related to Judging-Perceiving. Facet results help individuals see how they are similar to and different from others who share their preferences. Step II Form Q 144 items are based on a national sample and offers the precision of item response theory (IRT) scoring. Reliability on several facets has been improved.

Help clients discover the individuality of their expression of type

The Step II Interpretive Report is a highly personalized narrative and graphic report that helps understand and apply their MBTI results.

The Step II Interpretive Report offers Step I results and describes in detail the client's four-letter personality type. Next, his or her Step II facet results are displayed graphically. Personalized text explains the individuals result on each of the 20 facets.

Step II results are then applied to four important components of executive development:

  • Communication
  • Change Management
  • Decision Making
  • Conflict Management

The report describes your style in these four areas and suggests ways of using that style more effectively.

This report integrates Step I and Step II results to help individuals see how their facet results affect their personality type. The interpreter's summary shows the individual's results in brief; the average range of scores of people with the individual's MBTI type; and the polarity index, a measure of the consistency of Form Q responses.
